Animation Workflow
Behind The Scene
1. Concept & Storyboarding
The animation process began with a clear concept and a simple storyboard to outline the sequence of shots, camera movements, and character actions. This provided a visual roadmap for the entire production.
2. Modeling & Asset Preparation (Blender)
All 3D models—characters, props, and environments—were created or refined in Blender. Attention was given to clean topology for smooth deformation during animation. Textures were applied using Blender’s shading system and, where necessary, external texture painting tools.
3. Rigging & Setup
Characters were rigged in Blender using custom bone structures, ensuring flexibility for expressive movements. Control rigs were optimized for both body and facial animation to speed up the posing process.
4. Animation Blocking
The key storytelling moments were blocked out using stepped keys in Blender. This allowed for a focus on timing, posing, and the overall rhythm without distractions from interpolation.
5. Refinement & Polish
Once timing was locked, the animation was converted to spline mode. Secondary motions, overlapping actions, and subtle movements like breathing and eye darts were added to bring the characters to life.
6. Lighting & Camera Work
Cinematic lighting setups were designed in Blender to enhance mood and depth. Camera angles were animated to guide viewer focus and create a dynamic flow between shots.
7. Rendering
Final renders were output using Blender’s Cycles render engine for photorealistic results. Frames were exported as PNG sequences to preserve quality during post-production.
8. Video Editing (Adobe Premiere Pro)
The rendered sequences were imported into Adobe Premiere Pro for final assembly. Here, the timing was fine-tuned, transitions were added, and audio was synced. Color grading was applied to unify the look across shots.
9. Final Output
The finished animation was exported from Premiere Pro in high resolution, ready for client delivery and portfolio showcase.
